THE ASK
The El Paso Zoo needed a year-round event center for hosting weddings and large events. The challenge was to find a building solution that would provide an aesthetically pleasing, upscale design while still maintaining the unified look of the existing zoo environment. In addition, the proposed location required a building that could be constructed on a floating concrete slab.
HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED
Sprung delivered a bright, spacious, clear-span structure that took just four months to complete. Featuring a Dupont Tedlar architectural membrane and an R28 fiberglass blanket insulation system, the structure also has two glazing walls that bring in extra light while showcasing surrounding zoo exhibits. In order to blend in with the zoo environment, custom wooden doors and cladding were added to the exterior of the structure, and an exterior vestibule encloses and hides the outside HVAC system.
This Sprung structure ensures that the El Paso Zoo has an attractive, reliable, climate-controlled event center that can be used any time of the year.
