THE ASK
Starting around 2016, as the number of swimmers at the Kings Swim School began to grow, instructors were finding it increasingly challenging to deliver their full teaching program effectively due to lack of pool space. The school needed to expand so that instructors could build on their technique-based classes while incorporating more endurance training for their swimmers. Administrators at the school started looking for land and funding options for a brand-new pool. After exploring various possibilities, they decided a Sprung pool structure was the optimal solution for their aquatic center needs.
HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED
Sprung designed a 24 meter x 41 meter (80 feet x 135 feet) pool enclosure, which was delivered and constructed on time and well within the client’s budget. The first insulated pool structure in New Zealand, this spacious new building features daylight panels that provide ample natural light, as well as an attractive mosaic-patterned exterior that the client loves.
The new Kings Swim School facility has four times the water space of its previous pool facility, and the structure itself has generated a great deal of interest within the community and beyond. As a result, our client has given several tours of the Kings pool.
