THE ASK
Bechtel needed to safely and effectively destroy 2,600 tons of surplus chemical weapons stored at the United States Army’s Pueblo Chemical Agent Destruction Pilot Plant in Colorado. To meet the deadline and expedite the process, the team needed three static detonation chambers (SDCs) that use thermal heat to detonate or deflagrate chemical weapons, and scrubbers to prevent hazardous chemicals from escaping. To protect this vital equipment, the project also required three reliable, weather-resistant shelters.
HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED
Sprung quickly delivered three innovative, durable structures made with our patented tensioned membrane technology. Each enclosed structure was built to maintain mandatory negative pressure and included HVAC and lighting. Most importantly, the structures met the aggressive construction schedule and all rigorous safety requirements, allowing remediation to continue efficiently.
