THE ASK

The Fort Independence Indian Community wanted to build a retail cannabis dispensary next to its own Winnedumah Winns Casino along U.S. Highway 395. The Tribal Council leadership researched the market for cost-effective building solutions that offered a quick turnaround and a unique look. It was also important that the structure they chose had a lease with option to purchase, and that it was durable enough to handle the often-challenging weather conditions that come from the reservation’s proximity to the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED

Sprung designed and delivered a 3,750-square-foot structure with a variety of notable features and accessories, including a vestibule entrance with double doors, R-25 insulation for optimal climate control, and eight-foot-high glazing walls that provide ample natural light and gorgeous mountain views. Known as the Oak Creek Dispensary, the facility also offers a unique, drive-through section complete with a pickup window, as well as a patio area for lounging.

With its fresh-looking white and gray exterior and large “dispensary” logos at the main entrance and on top of the building, the Oak Creek Dispensary has a welcoming vibe that carries through to its bright,
clear-span interior.
