THE ASK
With temperatures reaching over 110F on a regular basis, Phoenix, Arizona’s Keys To Change needed a space to shelter homeless clients from extreme heat, and also to provide overnight sleeping quarters for one hundred individuals.
HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED
THE SPECS
Phoenix’s Keys To Change installed a fully insulated Sprung structure on concrete in the city’s downtown. The Sprung structure, now known as “Respiro”, is connected to a modular shipping container bathroom/shower unit. Local general contractor Woodard Construction was hired to complete the project with funds provided by the City of Phoenix. Structure materials were delivered in 6 weeks and subsequently assembled in 4 weeks. Conditions placed on city funding meant that the project needed to proceed quickly, and Sprung’s was the fastest and most complete proposal. A further benefit was the easy re-purposing feature of any Sprung structure; Phoenix intends to dismantle and re-install this building for other city needs in the future.
