THE ASK
San Francisco’s Embarcadero district had a large and growing number of homeless living in street-side tent encampments. Existing traditional shelters had been unable to provide proper access to services such as intensive case management, healthcare and drug treatment programs. The Embarcadero area needed a safe and secure shelter for local San Franciscans experiencing long-term homelessness, where they could receive support, social services and housing connections. A large-scale facility was urgently needed.
HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED
From ground-breaking to completion, the Embarcadero SAFE Navigation Center took a mere 120 days. The facility is made up of three Sprung structures and includes 200 beds as well as office spaces, a medical clinic and a dining hall. Of the many SAFE Navigation Centers in San Francisco, the Embarcadero facility is the biggest.
Scalable, sustainable and effective, San Francisco’s SAFE Navigation Centers are essential to reducing homelessness and connecting guests to services and housing assistance.
