THE ASK
When the State of Pennsylvania approved the addition of video lottery terminals (VLTs) at horse racing tracks, stakeholders at the Meadows wanted to open a slot-machine casino at the track as quickly as possible to generate more traffic and revenue. After carefully considering a number of temporary building options, the Meadows team chose a Sprung solution for a variety of reasons, including Sprung’s speed of delivery, energy-efficient insulation package and attractive monthly lease rates.
HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED
Sprung supplied two interconnected structures totalling approximately 78,000 square feet. Featuring an energy-efficient insulation system and black interior membrane liners, the casino was built in just 180 days and included space for over 1,738 slot machines, a gift shop and a 350-seat restaurant, snack bar and sports bar.
More than 12,000 guests attended opening day of the temporary casino, which served as the Meadows’ primary gaming facility until completion of the permanent structure.
