THE ASK
As the 2018-19 school year began, the 900 students at Good Shepherd School suddenly had nowhere to participate in physical education. The school’s gym, having suffered structural damage, was forced to close permanently. It was unrealistic to send K–6 students out to other facilities, but they still had to fulfill the demands of the physical education curriculum. School officials needed an immediate — and sustainable — solution.
HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED
The Sprung clear-span design offers maximum usable and flexible space with no limiting obstructions – perfect for gymnasiums. Known for our speed to completion, we quickly delivered and constructed an 800-square-meter, multi-purpose space for learning activities and events. The final product is efficiently insulated for the changeable Canadian climate, yet features natural lighting through daylight panels and glazing walls. The generous peak height allows for any activity. Incredibly, the Sprung structure can easily be relocated and repurposed once the school’s brand-new gym materializes.
