On September 29, 2009, two large earthquakes triggered four tsunami waves that hit the coasts of American Samoa and Tonga, causing extensive devastation. In order to keep students’ education going amid disaster recovery efforts, American Samoa needed structures that could replace the schools that had been pummeled by the tsunami.
HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED
Within six days of receiving an order from American Samoa, Sprung delivered 12 durable structures complete with eight-inch fiberglass insulation packages, Tedlar coated membranes, and air conditioning. The structures, which operated as dining rooms and classrooms and were designed to withstand 140-mile-per-hour wind loads, served as safe havens during disaster recovery
