THE ASK
KOPFC needed to cover its outdoor, Olympic-sized pool so that local schools could use it for water polo competitions year-round. Sprung worked closely with Kearns to help design a structure that would have the feel of a conventional facility, with the atmosphere of an indoor/outdoor pool.
HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED
At 23,400 square feet, the new pool enclosure features a Salem Blue Kynar membrane wave pattern, custom daylight panels and translucent doors, as well as R-30 encapsulated insulation, a custom sprinkler system and seating for over 1,000 spectators.
One of the challenges in designing the structure was its required proximity to other buildings and pools. Sprung’s design department developed a solution by transitioning from a width of 120 feet to a width of 110 feet on both flat ends to help get it closer to the other KOPFC structures.
With its high-tech appearance, energy efficiency and virtually maintenance-fee design, the many innovative features of this structure are what made Sprung the solution of choice for KOPFC.
