THE ASK
Weston Solutions worked on a site remediation project with the Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), a United States Army research and development facility in Maryland. The site was once a salvage yard, fire training and disposal area used to discard burning pit residue — a mixture of ash and highly corroded metal fragments, including lead. For the remediation, an innovative vapor containment structure was required to minimize the amount of contamination and increase solid waste diversion in a sustainable and cost-effective way.
HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED
Sprung quickly supplied a high-performance, round structure using our patented tensioned membrane technology. The unique structure was relocated around the site by crane and anchored with ballast weights while workers in full protective gear conducted remedial investigations. Furthermore, negative pressure was controlled using a charcoal filtration system.
